Ethel in Newport Beach, California had us refurbish her waffle iron and wrote to say "Yesterday I finally had time to season and use my waffle iron since it returned from rehab! Beautiful results. Thanks again for your good work. I also learned much by reading all of the materials you sent me with the repaired waffle iron."

Toaster Central offers a repair service for certain models of vintage waffle irons and toasters. Yours could be an estate sale find, or a family heirloom, or one of sentimental significance. In any case, this page reviews the primary considerations when deciding whether or not to restore your waffle iron or toaster.

We service many models.

Our repair facility is equipped with a substantial parts inventory for those models we know are worthy of the time it takes to re-manufacture pieces for resale (as shown on the waffle iron page.)

Please note that we do not do any replating. If yours has plating that is pitted or rusted or scratched or otherwise damaged, our best advice is to find a waffle iron in better condition. We understand, however, that sometimes condition can be a secondary factor.
A recent customer writes Thanks for the excelent work, my mother would love to see her pride and joy renewed to this condition. Thanks again. from Robert in Michigan

Cost ranges $95 to $150

The cost for rebuilding a typical waffle iron in average condition ranges from $95 to $150 plus shipping, and depends on parts needed and actual labor involved. It is infrequent that the cost will be less than $95.00

Hint: To give you some idea of possible repair costs please look at the prices of our items for sale. Approximately 85% of the price is the cost of repairs plus a very modest profit margin. The remaining 15% is the cost of obtaining good clean, low mileage rebuildable units. Because we rebuild only low mileage units, our repair costs remain realistic and the end result is a piece that is not only safe and reliable but one that is first rate cosmetically.
A recent customer writes I have to write and tell you that we are truly once again enjoying my great-grandmother's waffle iron. It makes the BEST waffles. Thank you for the additional recipes. from Catherine in Maryland

Is my appliance worth restoring?

If you would like a repair estimate for your waffle iron or toaster, please send e mail
pictures a description of any damage and what does or does not work. For waffle irons please send three pictures:
  • one with the lid open,
  • one with the lid closed,
  • and one showing the entire bottom of the waffle iron including the feet.

It would be most helpful if you also include
  • the manufacturer and model number,
  • Catalog Number and Serial Number
usually found on the bottom or on a name badge.

We will reply with a description of the work and our estimate, along with packing instructions should you wish to proceed.

    Examples

If we are presented with a very dirty or worn piece like the examples pictured, repair time skyrockets and cost often becomes unrealistically high. If you are considering having such a piece serviced it will probably make more economic sense to purchase one of our remanufactured units.
A recent customer writes Thank you for your service. The waffle irons you rebuilt for me are so much better looking. I have had a chance to make several batches of waffles on both irons; me and every one else are very happy with the results.

The instruction letter you included with the waffle irons has helped us make the best waffles yet, they are cooked perfectly. Thank you,

    Do-It-Yourself

We do not encourage most do-it-yourselfers to renovate their own appliances. However, some individuals are both qualified and inclined to tackle their own service.

We won't give away our trade secrets, but we will sell you the proper high temperature appliance wire that we use in our waffle irons and is absolutely necessary to safely service any heat- generating appliances. Please e-mail with the particulars of your repair and we will advise as to what you may need and the cost.

We can also supply cord sets for most appliances.
